I found the fist book being drawn in by the author, that is I read others of his books. I did not realise it was a juivinile (as referred to in the publishing world.

I will redthe next one (or rather listen to it as I do them all as audio/ books on tape/cd.

If they don't do the ending in 2 more books I will dump the series though.

The problem with books likee this is they either take it too far, that is they stretcyh the story line out like a soap opera, or they end it too quick, and the ends does not justify the lenght twe go through to get the prise.

Mr Patterson's other books are great, so I feel this could be a keeper,(AS A SERIES).

If they turn it into a Box Car Books series , or Animorphs, it is toast.

The "save the world" concept has to ring out very loud in 1 or 2 more books, to be worth the effort one expends to consume it.

If not it will turn into a waterdown sci fi of no consequence that parent will ignore and tell their kids to read something else.

If the "Save the World/mankind" concept works and Mr Patterson is a great writer/conceptionalist, then he can end the book, maybe renew the characters and write a second group of books with a long plot.

The problem is it becomes like "Dune" if you write sequal it may smell to much like the other, and then be a flop. I know very few people who have read them all, for a good reason, they peter out badly.

Adults of a certain age and time(myself), remember watching Billy Mummy in "Lost in Space" we laugh at it. It is comical to look back on but here is the rub, it was not sopposed to be that way.

When they did the pilot they needed a bad guy or it would become a "monster of the week" show. Friends and I discussed it for years and I made that observation, a friend then pointed out that, I was right, Smith was added for just that reason.

The mistake was making Dr Smith too much (to use his term), of a NINNY!

that show ran, but could have gone more, it didn't because it had no bite by the end, and was pure farce, cheesie special effects not withstanding.


Anyway I hope Mr Patterson, finishes up in 1 or most two books.

Then he can put them in to hypersleep, or shoot them into the next reality. As far as I know this is his only Sci Fi, so if he does that I hope he brings along another SCI FI writter to carry some of the load.

Harry potter is well written, but above all there are to be a finite number. You could pick up anyone and th etales are indidual, but linear. But they will end with the next book.

After that Ms Rhowling can opt to start a new series, or, Put Harry in much more adult situations. That is my hope at this point.

lastly I hope everyone gets a chance to listen to them all as Books on Tape. They are perfect for the medium, as the writing is rich and understandable. The use of Various readers to highlight various persons thoughts is nice, although for some that may not be so. I am also glad for the lack of musical backround as is done by some production companies. If it needs music to heighten the read, then it is not worththe time it takes to listen to it. The possible exception is at the begining and the end where it takes the place of swirly marbelised papers , or a single illustration in a hardcover book.

I enjoyed the others I await in eager anticipation for the next one as spoken word.

I really enjoyed reading this book and I think that it would make a great motion picture. I can just imagine the special affects having the "bird kids" flying around, just like the book. I really hope to see this in the theaters some day!

I think that this movie would attract many young adults. I know that many of my friends would watch it because the feelings and emotions are so easy to relate to. Fang, Iggy and Max are all around my age and I totally understood every thought they had when something bid came up! I think that a movie from this book would be very successful!

My friend recommended this book to me because she said the author was great. Once I started I became addicted and now have read all of them before her!

I got hooked on these books thanks to my 16 yr. old daughter. Way to go James!! It is hard to find clean, fun, imagineable books out there. The teen series is much better than the adult version.
We have bought the full hard bound set and I want a second set for myself when my daughter leaves next year. Max and Fang are quite the pair. They are fun to read about and the best part is that they have SOUL!! I give this a 10+ and will and have recommended them to all sorts of people all ages. Thanks again for a fun, clean read.

Max and Fang are already heading that way. If one of you are surprised, reread book 3. I hope they dont slaughter this one like they did with the Eragon movie. I just got done reading the third book. Personally it ws the same exact thing as the second one. But omg i am so glad that Fang and Max are back together

The best part in the third book is when max and Fang kiss...AHH! THEY TOTALLY NEED TO GET TOGETHER! But it is so sad when they seperate...that was the worst part of the third book.

I can't wait until the movie, but all i know is they better make it good. I am also glad that max and fang get back together in the third book, it would of been so sad without them together again.

I agree, James patterson needs to make sure everything goes smoothly in the movie! If they cut out the kissing scenes between Max and Fang I will be VERY disapointed.

My dad was the one who really got me into these books starting with the Womens Muder Club, and I absolutly fell in love with the first book, the first chapter! Thank you Mr. Patterson, for having such an incredible writing imagination. I can't wait for many, many more books!

I can't recall how it came to here about James P. But I must say his writing keep me reading as often as possible. You see I worked two jobs and yet even though this was written for young adults, I found my self engulf in his world. It may have something to do with the fact that I like a TV show called DARK ANGEL, now noting that these are two different Maxs I still loved the layout. I hoping he gets the movie squared away so that we will have something more to look for & at to our collection of books.

I looked at the person playing Max in the movie and that is pretty darn close to what I pictured her. Though, on the cover of the third book, that is not what I pictured Fang to look like. But, what can I say, it is how JP pictures them and I respect that.

The fisrt book is my fav! The second and third books are really good to! The fourth book is not good at all. i LOVE THOSE SEries and am sorry to say that the fourth book basically just says what James Patterson thinks about Global Warming and what we can do to help. This better not be the last book because i will be so SO ANGRY!!!!!! This book was way to short and had very little action! I say that James Patterson has totally failed and that all you people out there should rebell against the book. I think the book was not creative and just made so people could see what James Patterson says we should do about all this crap. (So called global warming...) I think Patterson better make another book soon or he will be thrown out of town! (lol... for once) The new book he should make should be that Max's experation date has shown up, because nothing bad ever happens to just Max and i LOVE alot of capture of the main character. Even though i love the othe maximum ride books, this one shoulld of been redone or never published. Those who are maximum ride fans and want to get the fourth book, don't waste your money. I know i have said this once , twice, and more but this book was not good and i think that the title: THE FINAL WARNING, had nothing to do with a final warning. Those who read this either disagree or agree with this fact: this book shouln't even be compared with the others. Its is very not maximum ride-ish and Patterson, you have not did this for the readers to enjoy this book or to finish the series, you have simply wrote this book so you can get your view of Global Warming accross the Usa. I do not think this was a maximum ride kind of book.

Just finished reading MR4. It was excactly like his others: suspensful, exciting, hilarious, action-packed and romantic Max and Fang!) WAY TO GO JP! and OMG...on his online interview he states that he is going to write a fifth book! YEAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

omg!! JP is going to be writing a fifth Maximum Ride book I am like sooo excited!!!!!! He said in his interview that in this up coming book that Fang and Max's romance keeps increasing right into book five. I can't wait until it comes out!!! I love Max and Fang's relationship and I think they need more alone time in the books.

A video game would be sooo cool! I would so buy it! I did not really like MR 4. It just wasn't the same as the others. IT was like he decided to start a whole different series. It wasn't Max and the FLock trying to find out about their pasts or destroying Itex. IT was about GLOBAL WARMING! If I wanted to read about Global Warming I woud read a Science Educational book. I understand he wanted to get the message across, but don't do that in one of your book series! That just ruined it for me. I hope the fifth book is better. And if anyone is reading this right now and knows when the fifth MR book is coming out, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

I have read a lot of books and this had to be one of the worst.

the 4th book was not very good. It only expressed his concerns on Global Warming. Grrrr... and it had no action, and really had nothing to do with the other 3. I swear, if the 5th is taking 1 to 2 years to write, and it isnt good, well...I'll-well I'll be really mad. But still, these books are very good. I dont think I can wait that long for the 5th one though. Hey, and for whoever found out the 5th book will be out in one to two years, will you tell me where you found that.

The movie is coming out in 2010 it will feature the first three books. The fourth one might be in it but the producers are not certain as of yet.

I have read all of the Maximum Ride series, and after reading the fourth book, I was thoroughly disappointed. I believe if someone is an author, especially of a series that teens read,they should be an entertainer and appeal to their audience. I was automatically turned off by the whole global warming plot. As a teen it (global warming) should be something I care about but not something I want to read about in something I usually find entertaining. I also noticed there was not as much action as there was in the first three books. Reguardless of how I personally felt about the fourth book, I am looking forward to the fifth book with anticiaption.

How did you find out that there is going to be a movie on each of the books, not one on all of the books?

I read the first book by mistake. Picked it at a used book sale. Turned out to be the "Large Print" version, which was a little difficult to read. Once read I had to get the rest of the series and purchased the latest.
I like all his series buy this one is the most fun.

I wish oz hadnt died in "the lake house".he was my fav caracter.

p.s. that is an adult book.trust me 3 parts are nasty but i liked em any way.(no im not a pervert)

you know what would make the 5th book REALLY good is if max figures out theres a traitor in her flock and she realizes its fang and he was only kissing her to get her mind off of how the erasers were tracking them so easily (plus all the flyboys tracked fang's group when they split up but not max's) so she has to fight fang to the death but this time she has to kill she cant leave fang alive

OMG! I absolutely LOVE the MR series. Surprisingly, I just started reading it this saturday and finished every book! Dang, I cant wait 2 years for the movie AND next book! I am going to go insane! By the way, if they're was a traitor, I could understand if it was Total, but it would suck if it was! But they didnt even find Total in The School, so it struck me as weird. I don't think Fang is going to be the traitor in the Flock as most ppl say, because first of all he wanted to kill Ari because he hated him so much just as MRFan said. Second of all Fang does have real feelings for Max and is not just pretending to like her. In the third book he was really upset when Max ran away from him just as he was about to kiss her again. Although the first books that MR is based one are a LOT more adultish, i did like them better.

I didn't really like the fourth book, and I CANNOT wait until the fifth one, I looked up the movie, and found nothing sadly, other than the fact that they are making one... no cast or anything. ive got something to say well people who liked the mr series i suggest you read among the hidden it is a great book ive almost read the whole series its more futuristic and suspensful than actiony its about a time when earth does not have very much food so the population has to be decreased there is a special police called the population police a general law is that people can only have 2 children and the main charachter is a third child it actually relates to the mr series erasers=population police flock=third child

Another great book to read my Mr. Patt is Along Came a Spider

Its about a guy named Alex Cross that gets assigned to a case where a killer named Gary Sonjei kindaps to famous peoples children, Mary Rose Dunne and Michael Goldberg. Alex Cross falls in love with someone from the Secret Service named Jezzie Flanagan. She retires from the secret service for reasons she tells Alex which are lies. In the beginning Gary Sonjei accidently kills Michael Goldberg. In the middle of the book he is thrown in jail but Mary Rose Dunne is still missing which means that someone got the ransom money that he was suppose to get and the people that took her are cops.

ive heard that the book the dangerous days of daniel x might be good its about a boy whos parents were killed by aliens and after that he discovers strange abilities as for example being able to morph his shape and anything elses and he wants revenge and in the story he discovers he is an alien himself
