Music Review: Sister Sin - Switchblade Serenades

For all you music fans out there that rocked out to late 80's early 90’s metal, there is a new band on the scene guaranteed to make you throw the horns in the air and make you think about that crazy hairdo you once sported.

From the streets of Sweden comes a new, rock 'n' roll sleaze metal band, covered in tattoos and lead by an attractive female singer.   Their sound is not so much of that cheesy 80’s metal that cleaned out the scene, but more of a mix of the sounds of Motorhead and (dare I say) DIO. Vocals suggest a King Diamond rebirth, and even some early sleaze ala Motley Crue.

Formed in 2002, the foursome accomplished success in their local music scene and soon released their debut CD called Dance Of The Wicked.  The victory of this release helped the band tour with bands such as Cradle Of Filth and even 80’s rock act W.A.S.P.  With rave reviews and strong media coverage the band decided to one up themselves and introduce their material to the world.

With the help from Victory Metal (Victory Records), who the band signed with earlier this year, Sister Sin has released Switchblade Serenades.  This is their second full release and promises to attract some serious attention with their true spirited heavy metal, sleaze rock sounds.  After listening to the CD once, I popped it in for another.  I can see this CD appealing to metal-heads, rockers, and punkers and that is just naming a few.

“Beat The Street” started off the CD with guitar playing that instantly reminded me of the old days of metal.  Lead singer Liv has a raspy, yet inviting, voice and quickly proves there is no chance she is an Amy Lee (Evanescence) wannabe.  This band is far more entertaining and much more fun to listen to.
