Who says you need to be a kid to love Spongebob? Nickelodeon’s newly released DVD, WhoBob WhatPants is fun and entertaining for the whole family. The DVD includes the new special, “What Ever Happened to Spongebob?” as well as five other episodes, adding up to 78 minutes of loveable Spongebob and pals Patrick, Sandy, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs as they battle through quirky storylines that only Spongebob can pull off.

The featured episode—“What Ever Happened to Spongebob?”—is extremely fun and entertaining. I hadn’t watched Spongebob in a while, but the laughs this episode provided more laughs than I would get in an entire day. After Squidward, Sandy, and Mr. Krabs call Spongebob an idiot boy, Spongebob leaves Bikini Bottom, the Krusty Krab, and his friends. He trips and gets amnesia and winds up in a place where bubble blowing, Spongebob’s favorite pastime, is prohibited. Can Spongebob bring back the bubbles? Meanwhile, everyone (minus Squidward) is worried sick about Spongebob missing. It’s Squidward’s job to find him. He’s so thrilled. Not. I’ll give this episode a 8/10.

Plankton tries once again to steal the coveted Krabby Patty Formula in the episode, “Goo Goo Gas.” I’ll give it a 7.5. To steal the formula, Plankton turns Mr. Krabs and Spongebob into babies. Plankton trying to steal the formula is always funny, but the episode was simply not as good as “What Ever Happened to Spongebob?” I have to admit though, Spongebob makes one extremely cute baby.

I love Squidward, so the “Two Faces of Squidward” was absolutely brilliant. The Squid is the best character on the show, so sarcastic and looking at Spongebob like he’s a moron. In this episode, Spongebob injures Squidward’s face and he becomes the hottest fish in Bikini Bottom. Definitely one of the best episodes of Spongebob—9/10.

In my opinion, “Spongehenge” is the weakest episode by far, earning only a 5/10. Spongebob attracts Jellyfish with the winds going through his body, so he must find a solution to that. Very boring in my opinion.

Following “Spongehenge” is “Banned in Bikini Bottom.” Perfect, wonderful, excellent, a perfect 10/10. The strict mean-spirited organization of Fish Against Things Fun and Delicious (that’s a mouthful) bans Krabby Patties without even trying one. Spongebob and Mr. Krabs must take their business underground, but can they pull it off? Very, very, very funny.

Last but not least is “Stanley S. Squarepants” which I’ll give a 8/10. Spongebob’s screw-up cousin comes to Bikini Bottom and Spongebob tries to help him find his purpose in life, but Stanley just ends up screwing up his.

The animation combined with the script produces an excellent show and an excellent DVD. The DVD is available through Amazon for $14.99. The DVD also includes four special shorts and the animation of WhoBob WhatPants. Definitely a good buy for all ages. You’re never old for Spongebob.
