Amy Poehler Has Her Baby
Published October 27, 2008
Last Saturday on Saturday Night Live, Seth Meyers was left to do the sketch “Weekend Update” by himself. Co-host Amy Poehler had gone into labor hours before the show.
Amy, who recently starred in Baby Mama with Tina Fey (who's been guest starring on Saturday Night Live as Sarah Palin) and is a regular on Saturday Night Live, was scheduled to stay on the show until after the election, but the baby had a different plan in mind.
Amy's labor was, in fact, first made public on Saturday Night Live during Weekend Update when Seth announced, “Amy Poehler will not be here tonight, because she is having her baby.” At the end of Weekend Update, a couple of cast members sang, “We love you, Amy! We can’t wait to see the baby!”
Archie Arnett weighed eight pounds, one ounce at the time of birth. He was Amy and husband Will Arnett’s first child. Amy is 37; Will is 38. They have been married since 2003. Will has starred in Arrested Development, and the new parents starred as siblings in Blades of Glory.
"On behalf of Amy and Will, I can confirm that Amy gave birth to Archie Arnett on Saturday, October 25th. Amy, Will and Archie are all healthy and resting comfortably," Amy’s representative, Lewis Kay, said in a statement.
News of the pregnacy was revealed back in April. In July, the actress told People, “I've been very lucky. I'm feeling good, and I'm just overwhelmed with blessings."
Amy is known for many roles, including playing Hilary Clinton during the election season. She has told the press that she would not be returning to Saturday Night Live after maternity leave, but rather joining the cast of an untitled new series on NBC by the producers of The Office out in Los Angeles, where Amy and Will plan to raise their family.
