A Novel Adventures Giveaway

If something is not HBO does that ipso facto mean that it's TV? What if it's not on TV, but rather CBS.com? Okay, but what if it stars people who are on TV? Great, but what if it's focused (sort of) on books?

Fine, I'll be more specific. You see, CBS has launched this web series called Novel Adventures. It stars Daphne Zuniga (One Tree Hill), Paola Turbay (Cane), Ashley Williams (How I Met Your Mother), and Jolie Jenkins (Desperate Housewives). The basic premise is this: four women have this odd little book club in which they have adventures that seem loosely inspired by the books that they've read. For instance, checking out Douglas Preston's The Monster of Florence leads the women to the CSI: NY set where there's this fake dead body.

The episodes are relatively short (the one about The Monster of Florence lasts less than six minutes), and relatively goofy. But, this is not a review, this is to tell you that we here at Blogcritics are having a little contest to discuss this TV-based web series that plays off of books. Before I tell you about what we're giving away, check out the embedded video below (again, Preston's The Monster of Florence one).

As for the giveaway, we've got one copy of each of the books that the adventures are based on. Or, more specifically, we have one copy of: The Old Man and the Sea (Ernest Hemingway), Girls Like Us (Sheila Weller), The Bourne Sanction (Eric von Lustbader), The Monster of Florence (Douglas Preston), The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry (Kathleen Flinn), Gone With the Wind (Margaret Mitchell), Life So Far (Betty Friedan), The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Society (Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows), Knit Two (Kate Jacobs). We're looking for a single winner to take all of these books off of our hands (it's not that we don't like to read, it's just that we're TV-based folks).

The rules are as follows (well, there are these and the ones on the contest entry form too):

  • Fill out the entry form.
  • Entries must be received by November 30, 2008.
  • The winner will be drawn on or after December 1, 2008.
  • The winner will be notified by e-mail and in the comments section below.
  • You must be a U.S. resident to enter.

I'm an English teacher. It would be AWESOME to have these for my classroom. Sometimes students say they can't find a book they like or can't afford one. This would help!
