RJ's NFL Picks - Week Fourteen

Part of NFL Picks

I went 8-8 last week. That puts me at 116-76 for the season. For a comparison, check out the "experts" over at ESPN.

Here are my picks for the NFL's Week 14:

**THURSDAY, DECEMBER 4**

RJ's Lame-Game Of The Week: Oakland Raiders 3-9 at San Diego Chargers 4-8 @ 8:15 p.m. (Line: San Diego by 10)

Norv Turner is about as popular in San Diego right now as pubic lice in a nunnery.

RJ's Pick: San Diego by 3

**SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7**

Washington Redskins 7-5 at Baltimore Ravens 8-4 @ 1:00 p.m. (Line: Baltimore by 5.5)

The Ravens play three of their final four games at home. They've allowed the third-fewest points in the league. They have a +102 point differential, third-best in the NFL. So what if their QB looks like Lee Harvey Oswald right after he met Jack Ruby?

RJ's Pick: Baltimore by 11

Jacksonville Jaguars 4-8 at Chicago Bears 6-6 @ 1:00 p.m. (Line: Chicago by 3)

Did you know that David Garrard has Crohn's disease? It's true. It takes a big man to play in the NFL, and an ever bigger man to tell the world that he shits blood.

RJ's Pick: Chicago by 7

Minnesota Vikings 7-5 at Detroit Lions 0-12 @ 1:00 p.m. (Line: Minnesota by 9.5)

This is probably Detroit's best chance to avoid a winless season. Daunte Culpepper should be adequately motivated (assuming he starts).

RJ's Pick: Detroit by 1

Houston Texans 5-7 at Green Bay Packers 5-7 @ 1:00 p.m. (Line: Green Bay by 6.5)

Matt Schaub may start this week. That would mean Sage "Parsley" Rosenfels would be spending his thyme on the bench (Are you going to Scarborough Fair?).

RJ's Pick: Green Bay by 2

Cincinnati Bengals 1-10-1 at Indianapolis Colts 8-4 @ 1:00 p.m. (Line: Indianapolis by 13.5)

This is Peyton Manning's worst season since at least 2001, yet he's still carrying this team to what looks like another postseason appearance.

RJ's Pick: Indianapolis by 21

Atlanta Falcons 8-4 at New Orleans Saints 6-6 @ 1:00 p.m. (Line: New Orleans by 3)

The NFL's #2 ground game (the Falcons) versus the league's #1 passing attack (the Saints). I expect a high-scoring affair.

RJ's Pick: Atlanta by 5

Philadelphia Eagles 6-5-1 at New York Giants 11-1 @ 1:00 p.m. (Line: New York Giants by 9)

Plaxico Burress, I have seen your future, and it's in federal law enforcement.

RJ's Pick: New York Giants by 4

Cleveland Browns 4-8 at Tennessee Titans 11-1 @ 1:00 p.m. (Line: Tennessee by 13.5)

How many wins do you suppose the Titans would have if Vince Young had started all season? I'll set the Over/Under at his original Wonderlic score.

RJ's Pick: Tennessee by 20

Miami Dolphins 7-5 at Buffalo Bills 6-6 (actually, in Toronto) @ 4:05 p.m. (Line: Buffalo by 1)

It's a fine time to be a football fan in Canada. Less than two weeks ago, the Calgary Stampeders defeated the Montreal Alouettes (which I believe is French for "chokers") 22-14 in the 96th Grey Cup, which is kinda like the Canadian Football League's version of the Super Bowl, except all the beer commercials are for Molson. This week, two NFL teams head north of the border to play in the frozen tundra of ... a dome stadium. THIS JUST IN: Ted Rogers is dead. No word yet on whether angry Bills fans had anything to do with his passing.

Bal, Chi, Det, GB, Ind, NO, Phi, Ten, Mia, Den, Ari, Pit, NE, Car, SF, Min.

I agree. Minnesota is Detroit's best chance. Winless teams always find ways to win somewhere, somehow. NO may be another one. But I'm still not picking them.

As for the CFL, yeah the Als are 1-5 in Grey Cup play since 1996. They've been the most successful regular season by far with a .643 winning percentage but haven't been able to beat Western teams in the big one.

Calgary was simply the better team.

It was cool to see the MNF crew show off their Als jersey's.
