PlayStation Network Update: 12/23/2008

A great week on the PSN with Lumines Supernova, Suikoden, and the MGS themed LittleBigPlanet content.
Woohoo! Christmas came early, except that you have to pay for the good stuff! The most exciting addition on this update (for me at least) is the Metal Gear Solid 4 sackboys and level pack. The Level Pack in particular is a must have as it adds a paint gun, plasma blasts, MGS music and what I have been asking for since the start...new levels! ...

PlayStation Network Update: 12/18/2008

Games, Demos, PS1 classics, themes and more make this a large and substantial PSN update this week.
Nice big week on the PlayStation Network, games, PS1 classics and add-on content galore. The big new games this week are the slightly delayed Penny Arcade Adventures: On The Rainslick Precipice Of Darkness: Episode 2 and Crash Commando. The Penny Arcade game is appreciated but I really hope this is the last delayed episode. Many PlayStation...

How does one become a dedicated and obsessive gamer? Read on to see how a gamer evolves with the times.
This is the third part of a four-part series that will look at how I became the nutball, Sony fanboy, obsessive gamer I am. As you read this, if you have similar thoughts or your own stories please add them to the comments. If you are so inclined you can read part 1 and part 2 of the series to see what led me to this stage of my evolution as a...

PlayStation Network Update: 12/11/2008

A large and interesting PSN update this week - some free, some not so much - but there is a lot for everyone to enjoy.
Weeks like this make me scratch my head and wonder. So many contradictions in the add-on content front. First up, we have the awesome but overpriced Street Fighter II LittleBigPlanet costumes; again if there was a level included, I would be all over this. There are a number of game enhancement packs that cost some serious dollars. The Force...

Blu-ray Review: L.A. Confidential

L.A. Confidential arrives on Blu-ray, the movie is still great but the transfer is simply average.
L.A. Confidential is perhaps one of the finest film noir movies of the modern era. Perhaps not up to the standards of The Maltese Falcon, The Big Sleep and Neo-Noir Chinatown, but a great example of the genre. It has been upgraded in its HD debut on Blu-ray, does the format bring the movie to the next generation, or does it show its age? Read on...

PlayStation Network Update: 12/04/2008

A solid week, some PSP ports, a new PSN title, and a free episode of Qore. Start downloading!
Let's call this update the portable version! Still no PS1 classics (why?), but four great games for the PSP this week. Ported versions of PSN classics Super Stardust and Everyday Shooter make their way to PSPs via the PSN store or the PC store. We also have digital versions of Archer Maclean's Mercury and Brain Challenge to round out...

The Evolution of a Gamer: Part 1 - The Early Years

How does one become a dedicated and obsessive gamer? Read on to see how my journey began.
Many of us are avid gamers. Some of us are new to the pastime, and others have been lifelong gamers. A short while ago I was talking to someone who could not understand the enjoyment video games can evoke in someone, or even why someone would continue to play after they have ‘grown up’. As I spoke to this person and talked about why...

Kung Fu Panda is a fun movie for all ages that becomes great on this amazing Blu-ray transfer.
One of the biggest hits of the summer, Kung Fu Panda, has arrived on Blu-ray. Was it simply a case of box-office drought, or is it truly a great movie and how does it fair on Blu-ray. I am happy to say it is a satisfying movie and looks and sounds amazing on Blu-ray.The MovieKung Fu Panda is a movie about following your dreams and discovering the...

Glee! This week's PSN update is two days early and features the eagerly anticipated Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix! I immediately downloaded this, completed Story mode with Chun Li and played about 20 games online. I can safely say this download is WELL worth the purchase. The online play is the quickest experience I have ever...
