PlayStation Network Update: 12/23/2008

A great week on the PSN with Lumines Supernova, Suikoden, and the MGS themed LittleBigPlanet content.
Woohoo! Christmas came early, except that you have to pay for the good stuff! The most exciting addition on this update (for me at least) is the Metal Gear Solid 4 sackboys and level pack. The Level Pack in particular is a must have as it adds a paint gun, plasma blasts, MGS music and what I have been asking for since the start...new levels! ...

Games, Demos, PS1 classics, themes and more make this a large and substantial PSN update this week.
Nice big week on the PlayStation Network, games, PS1 classics and add-on content galore. The big new games this week are the slightly delayed Penny Arcade Adventures: On The Rainslick Precipice Of Darkness: Episode 2 and Crash Commando. The Penny Arcade game is appreciated but I really hope this is the last delayed episode. Many PlayStation...

A large and interesting PSN update this week - some free, some not so much - but there is a lot for everyone to enjoy.
Weeks like this make me scratch my head and wonder. So many contradictions in the add-on content front. First up, we have the awesome but overpriced Street Fighter II LittleBigPlanet costumes; again if there was a level included, I would be all over this. There are a number of game enhancement packs that cost some serious dollars. The Force...

A solid week, some PSP ports, a new PSN title, and a free episode of Qore. Start downloading!
Let's call this update the portable version! Still no PS1 classics (why?), but four great games for the PSP this week. Ported versions of PSN classics Super Stardust and Everyday Shooter make their way to PSPs via the PSN store or the PC store. We also have digital versions of Archer Maclean's Mercury and Brain Challenge to round out...

Super Street Fighter Turbo HD Remix...nuff said.
Glee! This week's PSN update is two days early and features the eagerly anticipated Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix! I immediately downloaded this, completed Story mode with Chun Li and played about 20 games online. I can safely say this download is WELL worth the purchase. The online play is the quickest experience I have ever...

Don't be blinded by the sheer size of the update, it is mostly all bad this week.
Not to sound like a broken record, but Sony really needs to bring out the games. It is a good thing we are getting Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix on Tuesday or I would lose all hope. The first big entry is the BioShock PS3 Challenge Rooms, but frankly I am really disappointed with this DLC as we were lead to believe at the start that this...

A huge yet nearly substance free update on the PSN.
I am sorry Sony, perhaps you misunderstood me last week when I said we like to buy things. We do appreciate the new game, Age of Booty. It's not my cup of tea, but many people were looking forward to it. It is also nice to see the new Pain level, Movie Studio Lot, and of course the Hoff. These are good things, these are nice things. Not so nice...

A very boring week on the PSN, the only big retail item is Qore and that is not a great thing to brag about.
Dear Sony, I know this is a crowded season for games, but just a reminder: we like to buy things on the PSN. You know -- PS1 classics, new games, expansion packs, and so on. I can tell you we DON'T like themes we have to pay for, or useless Qore annual subscriptions that have a pay for beta invite to Home.Having said that, this week's...

International Demo Day on the good old PSN and a great deal on Siren: Blood Curse.
Let's call this International Demo Day! The first big news is the Halloween sale for Siren: Blood Curse. If you don't have this game, this is the perfect time to grab it. Just be prepared for a really long download process and an even longer install period. We have a break in tradition with three Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution packs,...

A big week on the PSN, but most of the major items were available on the 'other' console already.
Let's call this ME TOO! week on the PSN, nearly all the major items have been available on the 'other' console for a very long time. Still it is nice to get them and in some cases at a better price point. The biggest entry is the first game based on the insanely popular online comic/personalities - Penny Arcade in the form of Penny...
